¡Viva Surrey! 2013 – Luisa Marshall’s Selena Tribute
Tina Turner Tribute Artist, Luisa Marshall will be performing as SELENA at ¡Viva Surrey! – a fundraiser for the Surrey Christmas Bureau. Dance away those winter chills at ¡Viva Surrey! on February 9th. Come out and support this great cause!
Viva Surrey! is a celebration of Latin American culture through music, dance and food.
The Surrey Christmas Bureau helps low-income families in Surrey have the toys and nutritious food needed to have a brighter Christmas holiday. In 2012, the Surrey Christmas Bureau assisted 1,700 families, in which families received household items, clothing, toys and grocery certificates. This represents nearly 4,500 local children receiving toys.

I woke up this morning with a great feeling of joy and peacefulness that my journey as an artist and my stand as a supporter of good, positive and productive people will make a lasting affirmation of what transformed my life beyond all recognition.
Last night, people congratulated me about my powerful interview with community leader and advocate Narima dela Cruz on Simply the Best “Let’s Talk” series. They were moved and inspired.
Today I got this message and post on Facebook from Narima. There are two articles in a local community paper about my upcoming performance in Surrey to help raise money for the Surrey Christmas Bureau. Hope this inspires you all that we can always extend our hands to all various communities if you really want to.

Hope to see y’all on Saturday!
The Show
Last night, the Latin community had come together to raise funds for the Surrey Christmas Bureau. It was a successful event with music, dance, food and a silent auction. Luisa’s Selena Tribute came out with a big bang and wowed the audience. We’d like to say thank you to all those who came out to support the event with a special thanks to personal friends of Luisa who came out to dance, bid at the silent auction and support the event (you know who you are ;-)).
“I am very honored to be a part of any community in our diversed country that promotes love, hope and compassion to those who need it the most”, said Luisa Marshall. “I was requested by the Viva Surrey organizers to pay tribute to the immortal Selena for the first time and I was so happy to have pulled it off. Very challenging. Brushed up on a few Spanish words. Sang “Selena’s Disco Medley” and “La Bamba”. Everybody danced the salsa and sang with me. Les quiero mucho, Latino comunidad”!
“Having Luisa Marshall come to our fundraiser really made the event a huge success! Her dynamic voice and electric presence lit up the room and got the crowd dancing with energy and clapping with enthusiasm. Her songs fit in perfectly with our theme and everyone enjoyed her vibrant talent.”

The Surrey Christmas Bureau
The Surrey Christmas Bureau assists hundreds of low-income families with children under the age of 16. Through the Hamper and Adopt-A-Family programs these families receive food certificates, toys, gifts, warm clothing and household items. In addition, the Bureau matches sponsors with nearly 250 families who have children with unique challenges and considerations. As Surrey continues to grow, and as the economy’s instability lingers, each year there is a greater need for the services we provide.
