GET INSPIRED! Happiest New Year to y’all! We have a lot to celebrate this year! There are more inspirations, empowerment, and making awareness! Alex Sangha was on the show a year ago talking about this documentary film. Here we are a year later after the film’s unbelievable success. We are proud to air the first television premier of “My Name Was January”.
This film has garnered 50 official selections at film festivals… received 12 international jury awards.
With a budget of less than $25,000 dollars, this film, directed by Elina Gress and Lenee Son, tells the true to life story of the most beloved member of SHER Vancouver, the late January Marie Lapuz. She was born in the Philippines, later moved to Canada. Facing many challenges as an immigrant and as a transgender woman, January was brutally murdered in her New Westminster home on September 30, 2012.

Welcoming the Philippine Ambassador to Canada to the Museum of Surrey! In coordination with the Surrey Philippine Independence Day Society (SPIDS). SPIDS president Narima Dela Cruz organized an exhibit tour and a simple reception. The event was attended by some members of the Surrey council, provincial and federal officials.

A Filipino designer all the way from Davao making waves in Vancouver. Steffy De Mylo showcased her unique couture creations at the Sinag Tela fashion show 2019. With no formal training, she followed her heart to design Mindanao-inspired clothes made of Malong, an indigenous fabric and later released her first collection of shoes.
