How Are You Spending B.C.’s First Family Day?
B.C. Family Day on Monday, February 11th, 2013 will be the first official holiday for British Columbians dedicated to families.
Family is very important to Luisa Marshall. Growing up in a house with 7 siblings can seem very overwhelming, and often times irritating, but as you get older you find yourself looking back and cherishing all those heartwarming moments. Being the eldest in the family, Luisa took on the task of supporting her entire family. Fresh from university she was hired as an Assistant Marketing Director for an advertising firm. However, after only a few months, Luisa Marshall chose to pursue her passion in singing and joined the popular Filipino group, The Ambivalent Crowd. Through the support of her family, she’s never had to look back, and continues to do what she loves best – sing and perform.
“When I perform, I love seeing the crowd dancing and singing along to my music in such a positive way. It gives me a wonderful feeling of happiness seeing those smiling faces in the crowd,” says Luisa. “I feel so incredibly blessed being able to pursue my dreams and, still to this day, do what I love doing. I would not be where I am today without the love and support of my family.”
Luisa Marshall could actually mean what she says quite literally. In her Tina Turner Tribute Show, her back-up singer is her sister, Tota, her choreographer and dancer is her younger brother, Leandro, her husband, Steve, plays drums while Luisa’s daughter, Kim, rocks it out on the guitar. When we asked Luisa what it’s like to perform on stage surrounded by members of her family she said, “It’s the best thing ever!”
