Celebrating the passage of Motion 155 recognizing the month of June as Filipino Heritage Month in Canada. It was a fun celebration in the community sponsored by our friends from Surrey Mitsubishi. Narima Dela Cruz and members of SPIDS – Surrey Philippine Independence Day Society takes pride in being a significant part of this history-making and legacy.

On Oct 31, 2018, Motion (M-155) authored by Scarborough Centre MP Salma Zahid recognizing June as Filipino Heritage Month passes Canada’s Parliament. SPIDS helped petition for this and submitted (through Surrey Ctre MP Randeep Sarai) hundreds of signatures gathered manually (hard copies) on the cold months of December 2017 & January 2018. The passage means June can now be celebrated, officially, as Filipino Heritage Month, all over Canada.

SPIDS takes pride in being a significant part of this history-making and legacy.

Yes, SPIDS did it and all who supported SPIDS on their petition did it!
