Filipino Community Center Inaugural Fundraising Event
(Update: Friday, October 11th, 2013)
TURNING DREAMS INTO REALITY! We are happy to announce the blessing and inaugural opening of the FILIPINO COMMUNITY CENTRE, Barangay North Van, in British Columbia on October 5th SATURDAY at The Versatile Bldg. – 113, 3rd Street W, North Vancouver, BC. This group of ordinary people, MV-PACES ( Metro Vancouver Philippine Arts and Culture Exposition Society ), are working in many extraordinary ways to serve our community by making this dream a reality.
BARANGAY NORTH VAN is the first FILIPINO COMMUNITY CENTRE Growth & Productivity Resource facility. It is a non-profit facility to help and develop the growing Filipino Canadian community, especially targeting Filipinos who have already migrated here for a while, to become more productive and eventually use their talents and skills, thus engaging more in contributing to the Canadian Multicultural Society. Kuya Alvin Koh Relleve (President of Barangay North Van) also emphasized that the Filipino Community Centre does not duplicate the functions of any Multicultural Society Helping House Society which takes care of new immigrants coming into Canada to help them integrate or assimilate into the mainstream society. The Centre will focus more on the sharing of expertise and skills, training for personal development, introduction of augmentative livelihood opportunities, as well as involvement in government initiatives by acting as a conduit for dissemination of information to the community.
Congratulations to Alvin Koh Relleve , Rey Calinisan, Toni Mangiliman, Direk Robert Tongko, Socorro Laurel, Mike Eliot, Beth Cabral & All MV-PACES (Metro Vancouver-Philippine Arts & Culture Exposition Society) Team & Supporters for the very successful Inauguration of Barangay North Vancouver Filipino Community Centre last Saturday, October 5th, 2013.
Simply The Best Team is happy and proud to be a part of this historical day. Let’s all come together in spreading the word about all the support, resources and educational programs of this centre. The 1000 square feet centre is a humble start of a beautiful vision put into action to help our kababayans to become productive. I am so much aware of the passion and dedication of MV-PACES, if there will be lots of people who are just sincerely working just as hard, with the same dedication… together we can make our community a healthy, clean, safe and productive place for all to enjoy. Despite the challenges, Kuya Alvin Koh Relleve & MV-PACES did not give up… together they kept moving forward making it a reality. The result… EXTRAORDINARY!
The initial operation of Barangay North Van will begin on January 3, 2014.
“Commitment unlocks the doors of imagination, allows vision, and gives us the right stuff to turn our dreams into reality.” – James Womack
A successful DINNER-DANCE-SHOW Fundraising event followed at the John Braithwaite Community Center GYM, 145 1st St., W, North Van. There were also many people who came and supported. The funds raised that evening will be announced soon by the president of North Van, Kuya Alvin Relleve.
Please don’t forget to watch the Season 5 premier of Simply the Best – the Luisa Marshall Show. Get Inspired: Special Coverage of the 1st Filipino Community Centre, Barangay North Van.
